Rosa Borge, the lead researcher of the project, presented the study “Citizen Evaluation of Participatory Budgets in Catalonia: Satisfaction, Difficulties, and Effects on Political Trust and Legitimacy.” During her presentation, she contextualized the deployment and increase of participatory budgets since 2016, emphasizing their impacts on citizen satisfaction and trust. The growth of these municipal participation policies spread among municipalities in waves, reaching a peak in 2022.
The seminar, organized by the Directorate General of Good Governance, Innovation, and Democratic Quality, is part of the DEMOC call that funded this project. Within the event, 8 research projects were introduced with the aim of delving into the investigation of citizen participation, transparency, and democratic quality. Jaume López, General Director of Good Governance, Innovation, and Democratic Quality, highlighted the significance of these projects as key elements in establishing collaboration between the Administration and the research field, thereby facilitating knowledge transfer.
