On Friday, October 26 in Brussels, Belgium took place the closing meeting of the Cost Action IS1402 on Ageism. The project, which extended for four years, gathered 200 scholars from 35 countries with the purpose of creating further knowledge on the topic of ageism.
In this concluding meeting, the goal was threefold: (1) to present outputs to national and sub-national policymakers in charge of public programs and services targeted towards older people; (2) to increase awareness and propose solutions at a grassroots level; and (3) to facilitate action to combat ageism at policy and law-making level. CNSC codirector and one of Spain’s representatives of the Management Committee, Mireia Fernández-Ardèvol, attended the meeting.
One of the visible outputs of this project was the organization of a cycle of short presentations, much in the style of the well-known TED-Talks. The 5-minute presentations of many members of the project took place in Bratislava, Slovakia, where they were recorded and later published on YouTube. Andrea Rosales participated in this event with her presentation “Ageism in intelligent systems.” Check out her presentation in the video below.
