The study analyzes data from the Digital Divide Survey in L’Hospitalet de Llobregat to characterize the dimensions of digital exclusion and inclusion. The report was presented at the webinar on July 11, 2023, titled “Digital Divides and Inequalities: The Case of L’Hospitalet.”
Based on a Principal Components Analysis, the population has been segmented into eight groups which fall under three main categories. These are measured through a multidimensional digital inclusion index, which allows identifying the main characteristics of population profiles. The index also incorporates facilitating elements and barriers related to digital divides in terms of connectivity, access, usage and skills.
The obtained evidence is illustrated through five weak digital inclusion profiles of citizens in the municipality, for whom recommendations are made to enhance digital inclusion. The survey was promoted by the Mobile World Capital Barcelona Foundation and L’Hospitalet de Llobregat City Council. The report and the interactive infographic can be accessed here.
