Online workshop: The network society today: (Revisiting) the information age trilogy

This year, the Internet Interdisciplinary Institute (IN3) and the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC) celebrate their 20th and 25th anniversary, respectively. Accordingly, one of the core activities deployed to honor this milestone is the online workshop “The network society today: (Revisiting) the information age trilogy.” As the title points out, this online workshop is dedicated to reviewing the renowned trilogy of CNSC principal investigator, prof. Dr. Manuel Castells.

Unlike conventional academic conferences, this workshop works on an asynchronous basis throughout four weeks, from November the 2nd to the 30th, in which each session or panel is organized weekly. The fourth and final session will be a wrap up of the whole workshop, in which prof. Castells will revise his highly cited contribution followed by discussions from other prominent scholars such as Fernando Calderón, Ida Susser, Kim Sawchuk, and Marina Garcés.

The organizing committee of this special workshop features CNSC group leader, Dr. Mireia Fernández-Ardèvol, IN3’s TURBA group leader Dr. Ramón Ribera, and IN3’s director, Dr. David Megías. The former two also participate in the scientific committee.
