CNSC codirector Mireia Fernández-Ardèvol authors a new paper in an open periodical publication of the Brazilian Network Information Center (NIC.br) titled “Práticas digitais móveis das pessoas idosas no Brasil: Dados e reflexões” [Mobile digital practices of older people in Brazil: Data and reflections]. In this paper, Mireia provides a comprehensive overview of the adoption and use of information and communication technologies (ICTs) by older adults in the Brazilian context. As in most countries, Brazil has been experiencing an ageing of its population as well as a marked growth of ICTs uptake by the olders. Likewise, the smartphone is their predominant technology to access the internet, even though making and receiving phone calls is still the “star” feature used on this device.
