Last Friday, February 20, Andrea Rosales and Juan Linares participated in the International Conference “Ageing in the Digital Era: An Interdisciplinary Debate on ICTs and Social Inclusion for Older Adults”, held at the Department of Sociology and Social Research in Milan. They presented “Generative ageism embedment in TTI models”, a study exploring how text-to-image (TTI) systems reinforce visual ageism by underrepresenting older adults. Their research, focusing on Stable Diffusion, highlights how bias is embedded in AI-generated images, further amplifying ageist stereotypes throughout the generation process.
