On Monday, September 21, CNSC group leader Dr. Mireia Fernández-Ardèvol presented works at the online workshop “Aging in a networked society: Older people, social networks and well-being,” organized by Dr. Emanuela Sala and other researchers from the University of Milan-Bicocca. In her presentation, titled “Digital practices and social connectedness: A study on older adults’ smartphone use,” Mireia advanced results derived from the international project BCONNECT@HOME, specifically on the potential effect of pervasive smartphone devices on the social connectedness experienced by older people in four different countries: Canada, Netherlands, Spain, and Sweden. This presentation advanced preliminary results of a collaborative work with Eugène Loos (Utrecht University), Andrea Rosales, Roser Beneito-Montagut (Cardiff University), Alexander Peine (Utrecht University), and Daniel Blanche-T.
